Maundy Thursday
John 13:14-15
“So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.
For I have given you an example, so that you should do just as I have done for you.”
Maundy Thursday is not only about a meal, but about a profound revelation:
the King kneels.
Jesus, knowing that He was going to the cross, did not seek recognition, defense, or comfort…
He took a towel and served.
In a culture where washing feet was the task of the lowliest servant, He broke every convention:
the Teacher became a servant.
And it was not merely a beautiful gesture; it was a model for life:
Loving when it is not comfortable
Serving when no one sees
Humbling yourself even when you have authority
Because true power in the Kingdom of God is not found in asserting yourself…
but in giving yourself.
Before the cross… there was service.
Before the sacrifice… there was humility.
Christ’s journey does not begin with suffering, but with a heart willing to love to the very lowest place.
Today, ask yourself:
Whom can I serve without expecting anything in return?
Where do I need to set aside my pride and take up the “towel”?
Do something practical today: a gesture, an act of help, a quiet act of love.
